Company Background
Established in 1884 by John Guthrie and based in the market town of Forfar, Angus, the company has continued to trade successfully in the major combinable crops; malting barley, feed barley, wheat, oats and oilseed rape. We are also suppliers of all inputs involved in the growing of these crops.
In 2003, we branched out into the straw business and this has been developed over the past 6 years, now representing a major part of our business.
Straw is bought in the bout, or traded ex farm for feeding, bedding and covering carrots.
We provide a fast and efficient baling and clearing service. We have 2 Claas Quadrant 2200 balers and a Massey Ferguson 187. The balers are followed closely at harvest by our dedicated team of stackers and clearers.
Another large part of our business is the supply of stockfeed to the livestock industry. Stockfeed potatoes, turnips, fodder beet and carrots are supplied throughout the year. We combine this with straw, silage, hay, straight and compound feeds, together with a range of minerals, licks and blocks.
As well as cereal and oilseed rape seed, we also specialise in grass seed mixtures for all purposes (including lawn seed), brassica seed, arable silage mixtures, game cover mixtures and wildflower seed.
Our full range of fertilisers include straight N, P & K, compounds and blends. The blends can be tailor made to suit soil requirements. We can also soure lime and slag based material.
